I'd recommend finding the actual entrance (in Blood Kelp) with Seamoth and placing a beacon there navigating the trench with Cyclops is hard. The only actually comfy entrance is in the Bulb Zone, but you WILL meet a ghost leviathan right across your way, and if you misjudge the location, you'll meet Sammy on the surface too. scan the aquarium arch and place an ion cube in the pedestal for the incubator. It's a narrow and tight entrance down there, you'll likely scratch some paint, but you don't need to deal with any leviathans (if you encounter any in LR, you're heading for one of other exits!) and is still more forgiving for your bodywork than the northern blood kelp ("ghost forest") or Grand Reef.
